While we have had a decent amount of one hour employees in our home. All have been very respectful, helpful and honest for the most part. The wife and I were recommended a full replacement of duct work. The first time in they “completed the job” and I was told they were done as far as they could reach. I questioned what that meant because I was sold on a full replacement of duct work because of dust on my vents and this would also fix and evenly distribute the the air in my 1973 home. We had one guest room that wasn’t getting any air. The rest of the home felt fine. They successfully did get air to that room. The rep said they only replaced any ducts that did not require cutting Sheetrock they were not instructed to cut any Sheetrock. I notified him and let him know I was sold a complete duct replacement that was recommended by their rep. Once home I had noticed a broken light fixture in my attic that I wasn’t notified. AC wasn’t turning on which was a door with a sensor on the unit that wasn’t properly set and secured. One hour air being very responsive did the right thing and came back out a second time and addressed all the issues. I haven’t inspected everything but while doing the drywall repairs on my home. I did still see old ducts. As you can see in the images. They placed a piece of new duct to cover the old what I am assuming to hide the old. While I am happy the one room that wasn’t cooling or heating is now ready for visitors, I wasn’t impressed with the communication that was sent to the field personnel among other things. While I don’t believe they deserve one star because there is a lot of positives to their reps, this specific event did bring down my level of stars I would consider giving the company not the individual reps. The installer did save me a few grand and costly repairs down the line with the knowledge of the item that wasn’t installed. Lesson learned 1. Ask what duct work is it being replaced with. 2. Be prepared for repairs (we already knew this) ducts get replaced wall repairs and detailed clean up are on owner. 3. Assure before rep starts work ask how much are they communicated to have completed. 4. Assure you get everything installed you asked for. (One item wasn’t installed that we requested but grateful it wasn’t because it wasn’t the item we were actually wanting) saved us some money and a headache down the line. Things happen and the wife and I understand.
I’ve been a one hour customer for more than 3 years. The a/c tech Adam who did the winter maintenance told me the ductwork connected to my unit was leaking. Not knowing much about HVAC he told me the leaks could cause bacteria to enter my house thru the air vents. He told he could seal the leaking ducts and I said okay. After he left I found out it cost only a few dollars of mastic and about 10 minutes of labor and charged me $471. I don’t have a problem with a company making a profit but there’s a huge difference between making a profit and price gouging. In the end I blame myself for not asking more questions and trusting by taking things at face value. Live and learn and tomorrow is a new day. It’s sad a reputable company treats its customers in such a manner. From now on any recommendation will be looked at with doubt. I know what happened and if I’m wrong I apologize but I don’t think I’m wrong.
Today my home was visited for the heating unit. That service guy Erick, was a jewel with a very warm and pleasant personality. He took the time to explain all his finds and gave us a wonderful report. The only problem is…. We did not have carbon detectors and he really pushed the concern(well because we have an older unit). And no, he didn’t try to sell us a new unit. One Hour Heating and AC, you couldn’t have sent a better person out. Before he finished in the attic, he took the time and looked for my Christmas tree😊 for me. That’s really saying something about a person who has been trained to do his job and taught respect. Continue to be the SUPER guy you are Erick and happy holidays
