Rather than wait for it to die and not be able to use any water in my house, my husband and I decided to replace the pump. Replacement was not cheap, but I can say Precise Plumbing's price was fair (neither too expensive nor suspiciously cheap). For those who aren't aware, there is an additional fee for processing credit cards. If you can pay with cash/check, I highly recommend that! Rich's estimate on both time and cost were accurate. He did a much better job than the whoever installed the original pump (I suspect it was the grinder that came with the house... which was built in 1999). The new grinder is from a reputable company and was worth having it installed correctly the first time. I have dealt with Precise Plumbing twice and, should anything come up in the future, I will call on them again! He was also able to get my two gas lanterns on our front porch working. Other plumbers I met with concerning the lanterns told me they were shot and I just needed to bite the bullet and purchase two new lanterns at $709 each plus installation, which would have been well over $2,000 for the lanterns. Rich looked at them, assessed the problem, ordered the needed parts and got both lanterns up and functioning great for $325. Saved us a bunch of money on this project.
