We had several wooden structures connected to, or in close proximity, to our house. We also needed our pool remodeled. I checked reviews and quickly saw that Pacific Outdoor Living (POL) was at the head of the class with complete yard remodeling, including landscape and hardscape. We approached POL with a hazy version of what we wanted. We quickly learned that POL had a very detailed process, almost like engineering a new product: first, establish detailed data of the area, then help the customer crystalize their vision of the end result by working with a knowledgeable designer within customer's artistic desires and engineering realities, i.e. budget and schedule. Upon customer's approval, come up with a reasonable implementation schedule that permits quality work and, at the same time, effective use of POL manpower. POL is a large organization compared to many local landscape companies, and, to make all the above work, it quickly became evident that they put a lot of time and energy into making all the above work! And it DID! Once we decided to proceed, POL sent a person to survey our entire property. She took detailed photos from every angle, measured elevations, existing structures and fences. In effect, she created almost a 3-D picture of the whole workspace. There was a small fee for that which would be applied to the project if we ultimately decided to proceed. Following that, we had a preliminary appointment with a designer, Julian, to discuss our thoughts about what we wanted to achieve. At a follow-up appointment, Julian presented a preliminary plan. We decided to proceed, and Julian worked up a detailed plan, complete with suggested plants. Julian even had us visit former customers to see what POL had done for them, and everyone of those customers gave POL their highest recommendation. A few budget constraints necessitated making some changes, but we decided to proceed!! At that point, the project started with significant amount of demolition followed by the great experience of watching a well-oiled process create a beautiful landscape of native plants, a patio cover, built-in fire pit, lighting, irrigation, drainage, and 3000 ft² of concrete pavers in our yard. Overall, very few problems arose, and POL even suggested some changes on the job due to old gas lines and electrical conduits that needed to be replaced. Obviously, we give Pacific Outdoor Living our highest recommendation! They worked within our budget constraints and made suggestions that enriched our design, then brought it to life! - 5/5 — Anonymous Pacific Outdoor Living is very professional without losing that personalized touch! Their process made all the difference. They first came to our house, then created a CAD drawing along with a cost estimate. You pay for that step, and if you want to move forward, the next step is a 3D drawing. After reviewing the drawings, they move into preparing the plans, and once you receive those, you sign the contract and the work begins. It’s a great way to see exactly what you’ll be getting before making the full commitment. We met with several other companies and even paid two of them to complete drawings, but Pacific’s was the only one that truly captured what we wanted. They stayed on time and on budget. To clarify, we adjusted our budget to achieve the features we wanted, but Pacific completed the project for the exact price they quoted. They did subcontract the patio to Tiger Patio, which brought some unnecessary complexity to the project. The patio looks beautiful, but it did come at an additional cost. Everything else, however, was handled beautifully by Pacific. Even now, three years later, they have continued to be a resource whenever we’ve had questions about maintenance. Overall, Pacific Outdoor Living delivered outstanding work with a thoughtful, step-by-step process that makes you confident in your investment. We would definitely recommend them for anyone considering a backyard transformation. - 5/5 — Anonymous Update to my original posting, 9/11/2025: It is one thing to be happy with a project and a company when all goes well at the outset. But we all know that things go wrong. And when they "go wrong" after you have invested a lot of money into a project, it creates a lot of stress, worry and questions: Will warranties be honored? How will the "complaint" be received? What will be done to provide a real solution? Well, I did experience a problem due to some soil mobility underneath my pavers. I wrote a letter, took pictures and made a video to document the problem. My letter was acknowledged and responded to immediately. Supervisory personnel were sent right away. An inspection was completed, diagnosis made, and a plan was presented. The specialized crew came out and provided and extra sense of assurance that they would be diligent, and they delivered. This is one way for me to express my gratitude to Pacific Outdoor Living. It serves as a powerful confirmation that an exceptional company is the one who honors their word, their workmanship, and their warranties. If you are reading this review, please know that I can confirm that this company stands behind their work. Everyone says that they do, but few deliver on it. What follows is my original review and posting: I know...it seems an odd choice to have a swimming pool removed and that is how we embarked on this journey that led us to Pacific Outdoor Living. We started this project by meeting with a number of different Contractors from different companies. Pacific Outdoor Living set themselves apart from everyone else at the outset by offering us the opportunity to have our entire property drawn and analyzed, in addition to plans being developed by a Designer. From the first day that we met with Samantha Hung, we knew we were in very capable hands to help us with the daunting responsibility of coming up with a design. We knew we had options: We just had no idea of where to even begin. Samantha provided us with a vision of what our property could look like. Of course, what matters most is the execution of all the plans and designs. Our lead Project Supervisor, Jorge, provided us with a precise checklist of all that we mutually agreed would be done. He was always willing to listen when we felt that we needed to make modifications to our original plan and design. We are thrilled that we ended up with the backyard that we envisioned for ourselves. Start to finish, our project took about nine weeks, and every step of the process: demolition, debris removal, preparation, installation, etc., was completed by a crew or a Team who was highly skilled and worked efficiently to complete their task. We are so grateful that we found this company and simply could not imagine working with anyone else on such a large endeavor.
