If I could rate them lower, I would. We were living in New Hampshire and had a planned move to AL. We booked service with the company 4-5 months ago and had everything confirmed. The plan was to have the team come one day to pack and then another day to finish packing and load the truck.

Come the day before packing, I received a call asking for permission to have the team come one day only instead of two. I granted this permission on the basis everything was completed as we were leaving town on Friday. On Thursday, the team arrived an hour late and with only 2 men. The team told us that the dispatch team did not want to spend money to have them come out on Wednesday and had given them the day off. I then received a phone call after the team started working on Thursday from dispatch asking to finish Friday morning and I told Hans, no, we were leaving on Friday.

Hans, the dispatcher, then proceeded to call my apartment complex and ask them for access. This is completely unacceptable from a client perspective. After I told my apartment no and Hans no, I then received a phone call from the local company “owner”. They said they had issues from rain to heat to operational errors and could not commit to more people or that they would be able to finish on Friday. He was extremely rude and abrupt while offering zero solutions other than asking us to change our travel plans to accommodate the company.

These are just the highlights from the story and not to mention we had to move our own boxes and take a couch down the stairs to move on time. The fact that we paid the team almost $10,000 to essentially move ourselves is astounding.

There was zero accountability and multiple service failures. After all of this, they changed our move from direct to indirect causing us a delay in receiving our items and only notified us 1 day in advance removing any opportunity to change companies.

To say will ensure no one we know uses this company is an understatement.

Had a great moving experience, the movers were professional, fast, and considerate of all our fragile or more delicate items.

This moving company was absolutely phenomenal! I was in a bind when I found out that I had to move within three weeks during the summer (busy season for moving)! McLaughlin Moving had a tech come out to make an estimate and got me in on the exact date I needed! The movers were kind and very friendly to me and my animals. The office team was incredibly responsive and helpful! This moving company went beyond expectations and gives you that secure, safe moving experience with the friendliness and connectivity you hope for. I would 100% use them again!

I booked a cross country move with Mayflower and McLaughlin is the local company Mayflower contracted with. Overall, McLaughlin is by far the worst moving company I’ve ever used. Horrible in every possible way.

Beginning with the move out, the movers showed up almost an hour late to the end of the two hour window they originally gave me. Once in my apartment, the movers used my bathroom without my permission and left boxes unattended in the hallway, outside my building as door props in the rain and in the parking lot outside their truck. It wasn’t until I asked them to take the boxes out of the open and put them in the truck did they actually move them. Furthermore, a Persian rug that I marked as high value was put directly onto the wet and dirty concrete outside my building and wasn’t wrapped until I asked the movers to do it. Despite the fact that all my things were already packed, the move out took three hours, more than twice as long as movers took moving me into the apartment with the same items. This is the first time I’ve ever not tipped movers, and having once worked in the service industry, I am normally a very generous tipper.

But it gets even worse. Two weeks after they moved me out and two days before my belongings were scheduled to arrive, the company told me that my stuff had missed the original pick up from their warehouse and was going to be delayed indefinitely. They had originally promised delivery on August 10th (in writing), but didn’t end up delivering until August 16. Crazy enough, it wasn’t until I emailed them for an update did they first contact me to tell that my belongings were still sitting in a crate in their warehouse. My hunch is that they had no idea.

In addition to this incompetence, throughout the entire process of rescheduling the delivery date, getting a response from their sales rep was extremely difficult, which frustrated me even more, as my emails were hardly ever responded to. I ended up having to go directly to Mayflower HQ to get a refund because McLaughlin was so unresponsive and unhelpful. When booking through Mayflower, make sure you check which company they contract with. Do not use these guys. Ever.

TLDR: awful moving company in every possible way. Sloppy and unprofessional movers, incompetent warehouse staff, and unresponsive customer service.

I recently used Mclaughlin Movers thru Mayflower from Massachusetts to Virginia. To say the least, it was a big move, but it went so smoothly thanks to the professionals at Mclaughlin. I had to have my belongings in storage for a month before I could move into my new home and they arranged everything. Movers were careful, and not one thing was broken, and I had a lot of fragile items. I highly recommend using them. Thank you to Lori and Evan!
