The entire process was seamless thanks to their clear and consistent communication—every step was explained upfront, timelines were met -despite other delays and weather - and they kept us in the loop without us having to chase anything. Their pricing was fair and transparent—no surprise fees or upsells—and they even offered thoughtful design suggestions. The crew led by Nick were professional, hardworking. Thank you for making our backyard dreams come true! - 3/5 — Anonymous We needed a drain placed and concrete poured on our driveway due to water entering our garage and mudroom each time it rained heavily. Will came out to assess the area and give us our quote, and while he was great, the rest of our experience was awful. For some reason it was only Will who texted with us even though he was never on site for our project. I spoke with the project manager Scott one time, to tell him about issues, and he never spoke to me again. The communication was so awful. The crew did some cosmetic damage to our pole barn and Will said they would “pretty it up” before project completion; it was never touched. The crew did not secure the drain covers that they placed, which I told Scott, and he acted like he couldn’t believe that they didn’t do this. The crew came back to “fix this” and all they did was put screws in some of the screw holes- not even all of them, and did not screw them in to anything. A crew member drove right over our sign that says “do not drive on grass here- septic system underground” and subsequently broke the rock that was lining the driveway there as well. The crew simply did not care about our property or what they did to it. Lastly, the whole reason we hired this company to begin with- the drain doesn’t even work. We just had our first heavy rain since placement of the drain and the drain overflowed and flooded our garage. There was standing water around the drain and it took hours for the drain to empty. So disappointing to spend $16k+ and have poor communication and poor results. **Edited** Will came out and personally fixed the drainage issue and we now have a working drain, so we are thankful for that. - 5/5 — Anonymous Mattingly ripped out our old deck and poured a new stamped concrete patio. This is the best contractor we have ever worked with. Our project manager has awesome communication; we appreciated the clarity and frequency. I knew exactly what was going to happen and when, and given many opportunities to ask questions or discuss. The patio was poured on time and to plan. We had a last minute decision change to the step down, and they were flexible and patient with that discussion. The team was very nice, respectful, and cleaned up after themselves. Mattingly doesn't do landscaping work themselves, but they stick to what they are experts in - the concrete - and do it well. The only suggestion I have, albiet minor, is a hard copy of the color options would be nice when selecting, and a website update that labels past projects with the colors and stamps used would be useful when making a choice! From obtaining the estimate and scope of work to scheduling, to demolition of the old driveway, to framing the concrete forms, to preparation of the foundation, to pouring and finishing of the concrete driveway, I was pleased. All my questions were fully answered by the project manager. The work ethic of the crew was professional. Job performance was quality work.
