Scott & Dan are truly talented, in addition to being extremely kind and generous. On several occasions I gave them general concepts for what we wanted/needed, and they designed and built even better versions of what I envisioned.

Scott and team were punctual and did a tremendous job in putting back my ceilings after a water remediation. Their quotes were reasonably priced for the extent of the work. Couldn’t be happier with the final results! Hire them, they know what they are doing!

Scott just finished his second project for our family and we could not be happier.

Last year he helped our family re-imagine our basement into part playroom, part art studio, part storage. He brought so many wonderful suggestions to make the most of our space and we are thrilled with the outcome.

This spring he and Dan quickly and beautifully extended our deck to make it a safe and stunning space for our family to enjoy. My 19 month twins have never been happier.

Scott is honest, fair, and extremely knowledgable. He does everything to code (and beyond). I would trust him with any project small or large in our home. He is an asset to the Fishtown (and beyond) community.

I hired Fishtown Handyman for a day rate to address a list of mutually agreed upon items ranging from minor plumbing repair, carpentry repair, dryer vent cleaning and hauling.

The good: the two guys are incredibly nice. They are easy to communicate with and are knowledgeable about a variety of trades and home repairs. When problems persisted with items they repaired/addressed in my home, including an after hours emergency, they were on it.

The bad: The fact that there were persisting problems. Despite paying for a day rate where the guys came later than expected and left earlier than expected, we had a few significant issues which felt like they could’ve been avoided if there was more attention to detail. My dryer vent was not cleaned fully, resulting in burning smell and fire hazard the first time it was used after they cleaned it, despite there never being burning before. In moving the dryer to clean the vent, my washer was not hooked up properly afterwards, resulting in water leaking from the incomplete connection and water leaking through my second floor into my ground floor through my overhead lighting fixtures. A running toilet that was addressed started running again two days later. A cracked stair tread was adequately repaired, but in our contract we had it written to replace it.

I’m disappointed in the price I paid for the quality of work I received, even though they made efforts to correct the issues I brought up to them. I didn’t ask for any credit on my payment despite the issues I experienced because I honestly thought it would be offered without me having to ask.

In all: I’m not sure I’d use Fishtown Handyman again. The guys are kind and responsive, but for the price I paid, I may have had a higher quality of work if I sought out speciality service for each of my individual issues. I’ve had equally frustrating experiences with those types of services, and been unhappy with prices I’ve paid, but typically they’ve resolved my problems in full.

I’d give them 5 stars for their customer service and responsiveness and 2 stars for the overall quality of work. 3 feels fair for my experience and I’m not surprised they have plenty of 5 star reviews for other work they’ve done.

Scott was hired as a general contractor to build out a bicycle store for BikeCo, LLC in Kensington/Fishtown. We provided design references and general instruction of what we wanted to space to look like. He went above and beyond by delivering premium custom construction inside and out. Scott truly cares about getting it right for the customer and nailed the details. I would recommend him for small or large retail projects that need high-end custom construction with fair rates.
