Through rise energy I was handed off to all star insulation following my energy audit. They did weather sealing and blown in dense pack insulation in the majority of my house, and foam board and fiber glass insulation in the slope and kneewalls of my finished attic
Pros:
-Scheduled me in quickly and arrived on time and got moving.
-Friendly guys, worked hard all day to finish insulating my house in just one day.
-Communicated clearly with me when adjustments needed to be made.
Job was completed and seems to have been done well.
-Fixed their mistakes when I pointed them out.
-House is much quieter, and temperature is much more stable

Cons
-Left trash behind.
-Didn't have plaster to finish patching wall (I opted to fix it myself so they wouldn't have to come back).
-Didn't explain the process very well - as a first time home owner I would've liked to understand the process better to tape up outlets and light fixtures to prevent dust and insulation being blown into my living spaces.
-Dust and insulation set off smoke detectors twice during my young children's naps - dust covers should've been put on, I ended up tapping a bag over them to prevent damaging our fire and carbon monoxide detection system.
-Did the initial door blow test assuring me that the forced air heat system being on wasn't a problem which resulted a burning oil smell throughout the house, potentially including carbon monoxide. (Didn't happen on the second test because I made sure it was off that time)
-Marked up the walls and ceilings in the finished attic while accessing the crawls.

All in all I don't know if I'd recommend them to others, but I would probably use the service again purely because I know better what to expect - and the end result did what was promised even if I have to spend a little more time cleaning up and repairing minor issues left behind.

It's Thanksgiving Eve and I'm sitting here reflecting on how thankful I am for this company, All Star Insulation. I would love to share my extremely positive experience with this contractor.

TLDR: We had a minor mishap during the work, but All Star Insulation responded in the most impressive manner, and diligently made sure that everything was right and perfect by the end of job.

Long version:

I went through RISE for the weatherization audit on my 125-yr-old home, and they assigned All Star Insulation to complete the extensive work that was needed. Communication was great from the start, they showed up on time, worked efficiently, and all seemed well.

It was just a few days later, during a cold snap, I went to turn on my heat -- and nothing happened. It turns out, in the course of installing insulation and vapor barriers in the basement, they had accidentally cut a wire that runs to my downstairs unit thermostat. I notified the company and was able to get in touch personally with the owner, Brian. He was very understanding and totally on top of taking care of it, and said he would send someone out immediately. However, when the technician came back, he pulled the thermostat away from the wall, trying to trace the wire, and in doing this he damaged the paint. He was not able to fix the problem that day, so I followed up with Brian again.

Brian advised me to have my own HVAC company come out and repair the wire, at All Star's cost. My usual HVAC company worked me into their schedule within days, and quickly found and fixed the wire. Then soon afterward, Brian sent out another member of his team to patch and re-paint the wall. This technician (Tony) also brought along a check for the HVAC company covering their invoice. Tony did such a beautiful job fixing the wall, you can't even tell anything ever happened.

My heat is working again, my wall is unblemished, and my house is cozier with insulation and other improvements completed by All Star Insulation. I've been a home owner for a long time and dealt with many contractors. We know stuff can happen. The point is that this company is the rare gem that takes accountability and takes the care of their customer very seriously. I would hire them again for any such weatherization work, and would whole-heartedly recommend them.

Hello, my name is Stephen, and let me tell you about All Star Insulation and what they have done for my wife and I.
When I tell you that they are top notch and very professional, the words that I could choose would never come close to doing them justice that they deserve.
So, my wife and I bought a 100 year old home in Cranston. Come to find out, that there was zero insulation in the walls from our RISE engineering walk-through. RISE contracted All Star Insulation to perform the work, and they were awesome!
The work was evaluated and planned over two days, and that's not two days of them lollygagging. There must have been 6 to 10 specialists working non-stop on my home at any one time. If they see that they need something, its called in and dispatched to the site so there is no lag or stopping of work. The whole job from basement to the second floor was seamless to me, but they got it all done. Any finishing touches, were the next day and less than an hour.
I couldn't even tell you if they stopped for lunch, that's how busy they were. :)
If they find something, and they did, they bring it to your attention and then fix it. They discovered when prepping the attic that the bathroom exhaust fan, went no where and was not cased properly.
The affixed a roof vent and insulated hose, then properly boxed the exhaust fan.
When widening the access hatch to the attic, I removed all the clothes from the closet where the hatch was located so they could cut the sections they needed to. They covered all of the clothes and the bedding to protect it from dust and insulation. All the hardwood floors and staircase was covered with runners.
It is these little things, that sets All Star Insulation apart from the other guys. They treated my home, my investment, like it was their own. I liked that.
If the need comes again, I will be calling them for more work.. or sending my friends and family.
They truly live up to their name; They are All Star Insulation.

Brian and his team did a great job. They had very fair pricing and got the job done quickly and we passed the inspection on the first attempt. I highly recommend them.

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Tony from All Star Insulation. He went above and beyond my expectations for insulating a multifamily house. He came out to the property for an estimate, arrived promptly for our appointment, informed me of his recommendations and different options to choose from, and explained what meets code, etc. We opted for Spray Foam insulation, Fiberglass for portions of the ceilings, and blown-in cellulose for the stairwell. He was very communicative, answered and addressed all of my questions and concerns throughout the process, and was able to get the job done in a timely manner! Pricing was very reasonable, will definitely be using them again for our next projects in the future!
