Vince came to provide an estimate at the time scheduled and emailed 3 different options the next morning. We appreciated that each option was clearly detailed and priced. We were able to schedule an install of a new furnace the following week. Since our old furnace was inoperable, it was important to set something up relatively quickly. Jim and Christian arrived a bit later than scheduled, but offered a brief explanation and did, in fact, come on the designated afternoon. (I was afraid they would be calling to reschedule and so happy that was not the case!) They took great care to keep our home clean and to transport materials to the basement in a careful manner. Both were quiet, professional and appeared happy to answer our questions. It seemed that the job took longer than they originally anticipated, but we appreciated that they stayed until the job was fully complete (around 7:30 pm) and at no point did we feel they were rushing to leave. With such a costly and critical purchase, we valued their care and thoroughness. The new furnace looks great and all components seem well-connected and cohesive as a unit. Our furnace shut down last weekend, and an error code indicated there was a problem with our blower. Chris determined that the blower motor had to be replaced. He also noticed that our collection box, which collects moisture that forms inside the furnace, was dripping and should be replaced. Another contractor told us during last Fall’s inspection that we should replace our heat exchanger and clean our blower wheel. They would have charged $4,500 for those services. That contractor also tried to caulk around our collection box rather than replace it (when it was still under warranty). Chris told me that the heat exchanger was working fine, and that it was still under warranty if it failed. That part has a longer warranty than other parts. He also said the blower wheel also was fine. 911 Mechanical’s cost for the blower motor and collection box was $1,524 installed. While costly, it was $3,000 less than the previous contractor would’ve charged to fix something that wasn’t broken.. Chris installed the new parts today, one day after diagnosis.
