I reached out to Mechanical Air, when we purchased on new home, as they were the company the prior owners used. I requested a service call to install my smart thermostat which the phone representative said they could do, and a maintenance plan. Upon review of the maintenance plans, I contacted the office to purchase a three times/year maintenance plan and schedule the appointment to install the thermostat. When the technician arrived, I was informed that he could not install my thermostat as I did not purchase it from them. Since I had not had this issue with my prior HVAC vendors, I call the office. The manager informed me that they never install equipment not purchased from them, when i told him his representative said it would be installed, he put me on hold to listen to their recording. When the manager came back on the phone, he advised that it could have been interpreted incorrectly but they could not install my thermostat. I advised that I would not have contracted with them if the information would have been provided upfront. He got fairly nasty at that point and said they did not want to contract with me and that i would receive a prorated refund (in around 10 days), and good luck if i needed warranty service on our HVAC system. I called today, and the phone representative advised me that there was a note in my file that they would not be refunding me for the cancelled service agreement. Hence, they promised me services they would not provide which induced me to contract with tem, then stole $339 dollars. I am confident that if they reviewed their recordings, they would see were their manager promised a prorated refund. Not good people.
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Mechanical Air Conditioning. I scheduled a routine maintenance service, and my AC was working perfectly before their technician touched it. Minutes after starting work, the technician claimed the capacitor was burnt out due to a lizard. Shortly after, my unit was completely non-functional. I was left with no air conditioning, with two children and a newborn at home, and no clear solution. I contacted another licensed AC company who inspected the system and confirmed the capacitor was NOT damaged by a lizard, but rather burned out due to the technician causing a short circuit while using his gauges. I was forced to pay $160 out of pocket to fix the damage THEIR technician caused. To make matters worse, when I asked their Service Manager, Jay, for documentation or support, he refused and told me to “just get someone else to fix it.” Completely unprofessional. No cleanup, no accountability, no resolution—just dismissiveness and blame-shifting. Avoid this company at all costs. If something goes wrong on their watch, you’ll be left in the heat—literally.
